Wayne Lock

Performance Coach

Wayne's journey in swimming began at age 9, joining Anaconda Swimming Club at the urging of school friends. His dedication quickly became apparent, progressing from lifeguard at 16 to Head Coach by 21. Wayne, alongside Anaconda’s talented coaching team, spearheaded the club's remarkable growth. They transformed it from a small local club with only three County qualifiers to a powerhouse recognised at national competitions, boasting multiple British and English national medalists. A highlight of his coaching career was developing double British national champion, Elena Dewhurst. In 2019, Wayne's holistic approach to athlete development—focusing on the person as well as the swimmer—earned him the prestigious Swim England Coach of the Year award.

Wayne holds a BSc in Sport Science, a Level 3 Coaching qualification, and a Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification. He is passionate about empowering individuals, particularly children, to reach their full potential, and is known for his commitment to those who demonstrate true dedication. Currently, Wayne is investing in the future of coaching by mentoring and developing less experienced coaches.
