How Young People benefit
Did you know that the Jack Petchey Achievement winners have contributed their funds to benefit swimmers? Below are some examples:
-
Squad socials: ice skating, meals, trampolining, paddleboarding, kayaking.
-
Equipment for the club: swim bridges, underwater GoPro camera, Tempo timers, heart rate monitors, bungee cords, swim parachutes, hand paddles.
-
Promoting the club: supporter flags, membership pop up banner, spot prizes for club galas.
-
tems for the Access Fund: goggles, kickboards, and club kits for swimmers who need assistance in purchasing training equipment.

What is the Jack Petchey Award Scheme?
The Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme is the flagship programme of the Jack Petchey Foundation, operating across 1,800 different schools, groups, and organisations within London and Essex. It aims to enable schools, colleges, and youth organisations to recognize, reward, and celebrate the achievements of their young people. The awards are designed to acknowledge a wide range of achievements, emphasizing effort and doing one's best rather than just being clever or gifted.

How does the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme work?
The Jack Petchey Achievement Awards recognize personal triumphs, challenges overcome, and outstanding team efforts, rather than athletic achievements alone. Each award provides £300, which must be spent for the benefit of a group of young people. The winner collaborates with a coordinator to create a wish list, but ultimately decides how the money is spent.

Who can be nominated?
Nominees must be aged 11–25 and have not previously received the award before within Hackney Anaconda.
When are the winners announced?
Twelve winners will be announced in April and a further 6 winners in October.
